Viola G. Sipes, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at MHP Medical Center.
She was born September 23, 1926 in Shelbyville, to Glenn Watters and Emily (Cummins) Watters.
She married Onas ‘Sonny’ Sipes on October 25, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Sipes is survived by her sons, Michael (wife, Connie) Sipes of Broken Arrow, OK; Del (wife, Becky) Sipes of Waldron; and Jerry (wife, Joyce) Sipes of St. Paul; her daughter, Lisa (husband, Jim) Kelsay of Russell Springs, KY; her step-son, Gary Sipes (life partner, Damien) of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her step-son, Robbie Sipes, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 2 grandchildren.
Mrs. Sipes was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of Hope’s Point Church. Mrs. Sipes taught Sunday school for years. She enjoyed reading. Her greatest pleasure was being around her kids and grandchildren. Mrs. Sipes had a beautiful voice and loved singing.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Hope’s Point Church, 1703 S. Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, IN. and Saturday, August 8th from 10 a.m. to time of service.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the church with Pastor Edwin Mohr officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
