Thomas Harding Obituary

 

  

  Thomas Edwin Harding, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away March 8, 2023 at his residence.

  He was born March 15, 1940 in Marietta IN. to Valice Harding and Martha Lucile (Price) Harding.

 Thomas was a U.S. Marine Veteran.  He retired from the Army National Guard in 1992.

  He worked at General Electric for 40 years and retired in 2002.  Thomas was first President of UAW Local 1793 for 23 years.  A longtime Democrat Precinct Committeeman.

Thomas was a big fan of Nascar Racing.  He traveled several European trips and was an avid reader.  He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge 2118 and American Legion Post #70.

He married Frances Leer (Bergstresser) Harding and she preceded him in death. 

Thomas is also survived by grandsons, Jacob Smith, Riley Henry; both whom he loved dearly.  Sisters, Shirley Andrick, Marilyn Kellog; sister-in-law, Nelda Harding; brother, John (wife, Nancy) Harding.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Rebecca, several brothers and sisters, Rex, Samuel, Jack (wife, Loretta), Gerald, infant brother Lloyd, Jenny Mae (husband, Myron) David.

  Burial will be  Saturday, May, 6th 2023 at 1:30 p.m. Whispering Hope Cemetery in the Heroes of Honor and Glory Cremation Garden, with military rites conducted by our local veterans’ organizations.

  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve Thomas’s family.

  Memorial contributions may be given to Shelbyville Animal Shelter at 705 Hale Rd, Shelbyville, IN. 46176 or Arthritis Foundation at 2908 Brownsboro Rd. #117, Louisville, KY 40206.
