Ruth E. Schaf, 98, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at MHP Medical Center.
She was born April 28, 1923 in Shelby County to Edward Runnebohm and Matilda (Miller) Runnebohm.
Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Alter Society. She loved to sew and make her own clothes. She also loved to travel.
She worked as a fusion welder at General Electric/Wellmans for 27 years, before retiring in 1983.
Ruth married Alfred W. Schaf on August 25, 1945, and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1996.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Sam (Shevin) Schaf, Stanley (Kathy) Schaf, Tom Schaf, John (Pam) Schaf, Nick (Pat) Schaf, and Richard (Susan) Schaf, her daughter, Yvonne (Bill) Claytor, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Kathryn Marshall, her sister-in-law, Sandy Runnebohm, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Thelma Kuhn, and her brothers, Glen Runnebohm, Paul Runnebohm, Eddie Runnebohm, and Ray Runnebohm.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2021 followed by a visitation from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Mike Keucher officiating.
Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
