Robert Ellsworth Williams, 87, of Fairland, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 at his residence.
He was born January 12, 1933, in Indianapolis, the son of Paul and June (Connelly) Williams. Bob was raised on the South Side in the Fountain Square area.
After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve on the USS Pillsbury, attaining the rank of third class electronics technician.
Returning home, he continued to use those skills and worked his entire career with Indiana Bell, from which he retired.
His interests were many and varied and included science fiction, model trains, and war gaming with figures and equipment, much of which he made himself. He was also proud to have been a piper with the Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers.
A private person in many ways, he was generous to a fault with family. He bought a house for his parents to retire to, and was always there for family when needed.
He is survived by a sister, Paula Evans, two nieces, Alicia Lovell and Terri Zacharkiw, as well as their children and grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place at 3 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 at Washington Park East.
Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Robert’s family.
