Robert E. “Bob” McClain, 83, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at MHP Medical Center.
He was born March 12, 1939 in Bartholomew County, IN to Ernest R. McClain and Ora Mae (Fetter) McClain.
Bob graduated from Hauser High School in 1958. He attended West Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. He was a member of The Rock Free Methodist Church in Columbus. Bob was a former member of the Optimist Club.
Bob was a machine operator at Ford Motor Company for 30 years before retiring. After retiring from Ford, he took a year off before starting work at NAPA and Carquest delivering parts for 20 years.
He loved to coach little league ball teams. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid I.U. and Cubs fan.
He married Donna (McCarty) McClain on August 14, 1960, and she survives.
Bob is also survived by his sons, Barry McClain of Lafayette, and Tony (Beth) McClain of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Robbie McClain, Samantha Burchett, Spencer Burchett (Jilliyann Tresslar), and Aaron McClain; 2 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Ellen (James) Noeller of Kansas, several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Willie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m., to 6 p.m, Monday, March 21, 2022 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Keck officiating.
Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery at a later date.
