Pearl Gellizeau Obituary

Pearl Pauline Gellizeau was born on January 25, 1933 in Matelot, Trinidad and Tobago to Emmanuel Rondon and Nessitta Rondon (formerly Bethelmy). Pearl was the first of 5 daughters. She was predeceased by Theresa Rondon and her son Jerry Gellizeau. She is survived by her sisters Camille Burke, Joan Rondon, and Cynthia Maddoo. Her children Michael Gellizeau, Mario Gellizeau (Rhonda) and Gail Canaie (Bertrand). She is further survived by nine grandchildren. Jannelle Gellizeau-Ip (Jerry); Nessetta Gellizeau and Casimir Gellizeau (Michael); Darwin Gellizeau, Shannon Gellizeau, Aelan Gellizeau, and Nadia Gellizeau (Mario); Gabrielle Canaie and Rachel Canaie (Gail). She was blessed to know 10 great-grandchildren.

Pearl lived most of her adult life in Trinidad and Tobago as a wife and homemaker. She immigrated to The United States in 1969 where she received formal education as a Home Health Aid and procced to work for Quality Care and United Cerebral Palsy in Brooklyn, New York. On multiple occasions, she was nominated for Employee of the Month on several occasions and worked diligently to provide outstanding care for many of her patients. She loved and touched many lives through her work and compassion.

Pearl devoted much of her life to St. Rose of Lima, Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY. She was a member of many church committees at her local parish including: the Preparatory Committee, which prepared the church for mass; she was an ordained Eucharistic minister; and an integral part of the Rosary Society. Pearl was well known for her hand-crafted crocheted blankets which she provided not only to her grandchildren but to many children in need.

Pearl was a lover of art, calypso, cooking, gardening, and taking long walks to better understand the world around her.

Pearl’s greatest legacy is her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she was privileged to have a personal and deep connection to each one. She will be forever remembered for her wisdom, encouragement, kindness, and her ability to show love for all.
