Nicole Rose-Marie Barnes, 40, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, at her residence.

She was born October 27, 1984, in New Orleans, LA to John L. Barnes, Sr. and Karen K.(Swazay) Barnes.

Nicole has been an active Cosmetologist in this area for most of her life.  Through the years she made many friends and formed great relationships with her clients.  She never met a stranger due to her loving and outgoing personality.  She loved the atmosphere in the salon and doing hair.  Nicole enjoyed working in her yard, listening to music and going to concerts.  Her kids were her pride and joy.  Times spent with them and her family were her most cherished.

She is survived by her mother, Karen Barnes; her daughter, Jezmyne Humphrey; her son, Jaxyne Murphy; her granddaughter, Jourdan Copp; her brothers, John Barnes, Dustin Barnes; her sister, Kayla Carman; several nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Barnes, Sr.; her fiancé, Andrew Humphrey and maternal grandfather, Marshall Swazay.

A Gathering of Friends will be Friday, August 1, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

A Celebration of her Life will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
