Marilyn Poteet-Lane Obituary

 Marilyn K. Poteet-Lane, 71 of Shelbyville, IN passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at her residence.

  She was born July 23, 1949 in San Diego, CA to the late Harold H. and Winona L. Poteet.
 Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Taryn Poteet-Martini (Gina) and Kathaleen Yeley (Nathan). She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Caryn Ashley, Eli Poteet-Martini, Marley Giordano and Paige Yeley. Marilyn had close friends she considered family, Janet Montgomery Fertig and Tommy Lively.

  During her life she was married and had several step-children she loved as her own, Thomas Stroud, Deborah Stroud, Brenda Messer, Steven Stroud, George Lane III, Garry Lane and Dixie Hoopengarner. Along with the children were several grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. She was a "mom" to many and always would give her advice....

  Marilyn attended Northwest High School in Indianapolis.  She was a teller supervisor at Indiana Down Racetrack.  Marilyn was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Society.  She loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed being around horses and watching them race. 

  Marilyn has a love for other people and hardly met a stranger.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her close friends and family.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hannah’s Wish, 7550 S. Meridian Street, Suite A, Indianapolis, IN 46217.
