James Lee “Jim” Miller, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at MHP Medical Center.
He was born January 21, 1938 in Huntingburg, IN to Irvin Miller and Mary Kay (Lee) Miller.
Jim graduated from Milltown High School in 1955. He graduated from Purdue University in 1958 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed as a TV engineer at Channel 4 for 28 years and finished his career at IMS broadcasting.
Jim was a member of the Free Masons, Shelbyville Lodge 28.
He enjoyed playing basketball and going fishing. He also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts play football. Jim was a simple man and enjoyed talking to people; he didn’t know a stranger. His favorite times were spent with his family and loved ones.
Jim married Carol Sue (Eckstein) Miller on July 2, 1962, and she survives.
He is also survived by his sons, James E. Miller and Randall L. Miller (wife, Nicole) all of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Kimberly R. Morisi, Alex L. Miller, James L. Miller II, Michelle A. Miller, and Addyson L. Miller; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and his 4 special furry friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the funeral home with a visitation from 10 a.m, until time of service.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran organizations.
