James “Jimmy” Gaskins, 60, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at his residence.
He was born January 23, 1962 in Shelbyville, Indiana, to Claudie Gaskins and Joyce (Guffey) Kelsay.
Jimmy was a veteran in the United States Army. He was employed at the Hampton INN as a Maintenance man.
He loved music most of all but also had a fascination for coins. He and his wife loved collecting rocks. He loved Sunday mornings at the “109”. Jim made fried chicken and biscuits like nobody’s business. He was also one hell of a good dancer. He was loved greatly by all, especially his family and friends.
He met his wife Julianna (Stainbrook) Gaskins in 2000. They spent 2 decades together and eventually married on October 11, 2018 and she survives. He is also survived by step-daughter, Jerrica Glover, step-son Anthony Glover, grandchildren Hazel Glover and Hunter Merrick, brothers and sisters, Allen Gaskins, Bobby Gaskins, Carol Watson, Joey Gaskins, Claudena Wilson, Daryl Gaskins, Loretta Gaskins, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Tina Ford and Teresa Faber.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 21, 2022 from 3pm to 5pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Burial will take place in Miller Cemetery at a later date.
