James Herman Smith, 64, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at his home. Born July 10, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla., he was the son of Floyd Herman and Violet (Ruddick) Smith. He married Mary Elizabeth Dillinger on July 26, 1976, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Benjamin (wife, Lesley) Smith and James Allen Smith, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Tina (husband, Larry) Pogue and Terri Kuhn, both of Shelbyville; brothers, Cecil (wife, Becky) Smith of Rushville and Robert (wife, Judy) Smith of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Mr. Smith was a heavy equipment operator for Local 103, until his retirement. He was a member of Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church, 505 W. Pennsylvania St. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev.
