Irene Bullock Bennett, 87, died Saturday, June 6, 2015, at her residence in Shelbyville.

She was born April 4, 1928, in Southport to Jesse Bullock and Hester (Taylor) Bullock.  She married Danny Bennett on Oct. 29, 1994, and he survives.

She is also survived by her sister, Doris Ann Pettijohn, of Martinsville.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pauline Betts; and brothers, Benny, Archie and Carl Bullock.

Irene's babysitting years was a true ministry that she provided to so many of God's children.  She was a dedicated employee at Shares, Inc. and Burger King.

She attended First Baptist Church.  Prior to that, she was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church.

She cherished her time when family were together at cookouts or family reunions.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Murphy Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Love officiating.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelbyville.
