Obituary

 

  George W. Morgan, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at Heritage House of Greensburg, IN.

  He was born April 24, 1933 in Union City, TN. to James Morgan and Grace Pinon.

   He was retired from GE-Wellman as a welder.

  George was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Eagles.

  He was a friend to everyone.  George sat at the liars table at the Chaperral Café, and you could also find him at Phelps Auto Sales.  One of his favorite things to do was to sing karaoke.  George was a religious man overall a simple person.  He loved his family and grandchildren.  George was a veteran of the Air Force, he raced and built late model stock cars that he started building when he was 18 years old and quit in 1974.  He loved working out of his garage that he built doing small engine repairs.

A special thanks to OUR Hospice for the amazing job they did.

George is survived by his sons, Glenn “Willy” Bright, Chris (wife, Lisa) Bright, Dan Morgan, John Morgan; grandchildren, Amber Bright, Amy Bright, Cameron Morgan; great grandson, Devin Wilham.

He is preceded in death by parents, brothers, sisters.

   Visitation will be Monday, May 8, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at funeral home.

  Burial will be at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens with military rites being conducted by our local Veteran organization at a later date.

  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve George’s family.
