Edward Zobel Obituary

Edward O. Zobel Sr., 93, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at his residence at McKay Manor.

 He was born March 5, 1927, in Shelbyville to George C. Zobel and Johanna M. (Cord) Zobel.

 Ed graduated from Waldron High School.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received the rank of Corporal.   Ed served in the Army from February of 1951 to February 1953 and in the Army Reserve for 5 more years until March of 1958.

  He was a farmer and carpet installer for Bryant Roth Furniture and Schofield’s Furniture.

  He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Shelby County Farm Bureau.  He was also a former 4-H Leader.

  Ed is survived by his sons, George E. (Jane) Zobel, Doug (Sylvia) Zobel; Mike (Lisa) Zobel; his daughters, Jonell (Scott) Frankowski; Jaleen (Joe) Monroe; and son, Ed (Trisha) Zobel; his brother, Tom (Norma) Zobel of Shelbyville; his sister, Kate Carpenter of Rushville; 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren,  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joanna M. Zobel, his brother, George Cleon Zobel, and his sister, Delores Reuter.

  A private family visitation and Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, December 5, 2020 with Father Mike Keucher officiating.

  Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.

  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Ed’s family.

  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
