Obituary

Dwayne Bender, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at his residence. He was born June 6, 1931, to Ernest Bender and Doris (Mullins) Bender in Bloomfield, Idaho. He married Carolyn Howell May 13, 1961, and she survives. Other survivors include three children, Tina Wampler, Doug Bender and Daren Bender, all of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Bender served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Bethel Apostolic Church. He enjoyed family camping trips, watching Indiana University basketball and playing cards. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 17, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Easton Poling officiating. Burial will be at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations. Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H.
