Obituary

Charles Haulk, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at his residence.

He was born July 3, 1925 in Brownstown, IN to Henry and Lottie (Robbins) Haulk.  Charles was raised by Ernstest and Bertha Mohr.

Charles married Joan R. (Spear) on December 4, 1949, and she survives.

He is also survived by his son, Randy (Becky) Haulk of Shelbyville; daughters, Cynthia (Steve) Noel of Ft. Myers, FL.; and Kimberly Haulk (Michael Ortiz) of Novato, CA.; grandchildren, Melia Barger; Adam (Tonya) Haulk; Whitney Haulk; Kasey (Brian) Williams; Travis (Kim) Noel; Ashley (Shawn) DuBose; Chase Noel; Sophia Mahachek; Chloe Mahachek; Malaina Ortiz; and Nina Ortiz; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, brother, Reverend Paul Haulk of Maine, and grandson, Austin Jessup Noel.

Mr. Haulk graduated from Fairland High School.   He was a member of Brandywine Methodist Church before becoming a member of First Methodist Church in Shelbyville.

He was also a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Teamsters Union 135.

In his early years, he enjoyed spending time on the family farm.

He played trombone in the U.S. Army band while in the Philippines. After an honorable discharge he joined the Indiana National Guard for a few years before starting to work at Spears Dairy for 10 years.  Then he was a driver for Mclean Trucking for 26 years before his retirement.

He enjoyed camping and pitching horseshoes.  He loved to do yard work and tend to the garden.  He and Joan enjoyed their time together in Florida during the winter months.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at Noon at the funeral home with Reverend Bill Horner officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.
