Carolyn Ann Fenton, RN, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021at her residence.

She was born January 31, 1941 in Washington, IN to Henry Alonzo Gootee and Freida (Ziegler) Gootee.

She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.  Carolyn attended Montgomery High School.  She graduated from IUPUI with an ASN Nursing Degree in 1996.  She worked in health care at the Haven center for over 21 years, with the majority of those years being the Activity Director.  Carolyn was a guardian of multiple children within the Haven Center/Especially Kidz.  She dedicated many years of her life to provide a better quality of life for the kids living there.  In her time off, Carolyn enjoyed traveling with family and spending that time with them.

She married the love of her life, David Lee Fenton on September 5, 1964 and he survives. They treasured almost 57 years together.

Carolyn is also survived by her son, Christopher Fenton (wife, Linda) of Oakridge, OR; her daughters, Bonnie Reaves (husband, Tom) of Shelbyville, and Peggy Russo (husband, David) of Springville, AL., 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Fenton, and her brother, George Gootee.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176, the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Mike Keucher, officiating.

Burial will be in Manilla Cemetery.
