Obituary

Bruce Alan Towne, 52, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at Major Hospital. He was born Jan. 4, 1961, to Larry Towne and Jaqueline Towne in California. Survivors include his wife, Jackie (Jones) Towne of Shelbyville; daughter, Tonya Towne of Michigan; stepdaughters, Tonya Jones and Jamie Jennings, both of Shelbyville; brothers, Jon Towne of Shelbyville and Mark Towne of Michigan; sisters, Minda Commire and Terri Toner, both of Michigan; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Towne. Mr. Towne was a U.S. Army veteran and was very proud of his service during the Gulf War in the 82nd and 101st Airborne. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved being out on the farm with the animals, hunting and panning for gold. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating. Burial will be at the Heroes of Honor and Glory Veterans Garden at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens. Graveside military services will be conducted by the U.S. Army and local veterans organizations. Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Towne.
