Wanda M. Ernstes

Wanda M. Ernstes, 75, of Indianapolis died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at her home. Born April 14, 1934, in St. Joseph, Mo., she was the daughter of Leo Barker and Mary Ann (Jones) Ray. She married Bernard C. Ernstes on July 3, 1961, and he survives. Other survivors include her brother, William Edward Barker of California; and half sister, Judy Fair of Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her parents, a half sister and a half brother. Mrs. Ernstes was a homemaker and had been employed in the deli at Preston Safeway, retiring in 1996. She loved to knit. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County.
