Ted L. Smith Smith Published: Monday, August 23, 2010 7:14 AM US/eastern Ted L. Smith, 69, of Shelbyville died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at her residence. Born Dec. 28, 1940, in Winchester, he was the son of Alva and Leah (Bechtold) Smith. Survivors include daughter, Shari Abell of Shelbyville; son, Gary L. (wife, Patricia) Smith of Florida; sisters, Sandra (husband, Don) McGhee, Karen (husband, Jack) Noel and Bonnie (husband, Kevin) Barefoot; grandchildren, Justin Kuhn, Nicholl Kuhn, Jayce Kuhn, Treyton Meal, Leah Abell, Gary L. Smith Jr., Brandon Smith and Sarah Smith; great-grandchildren, Kyler Kuhn and Hunter Smith; and He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Smith served as a U.S. Navy SEAL during his enlistment. He enjoyed woodworking and ginseng hunting. No visitation or public services will be held. Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., is serving the Smith family.
