Susan C Covington

Susan C. Covington, 66, of Marietta died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin. Born Nov. 17, 1945, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of William St. Clair and Eleanor Maye (Stiffler) Hale. She married Howell "Gene" Covington on July 27, 1968, and he passed away on April 28, 2006. Survivors include sons, Dale Covington and David Covington, both of Shelbyville; stepson, Hal Covington of Florida; stepdaughters, Linda Richards, Lisa Kitchin and Mary Phares, all of Shelbyville; eight step-grandchildren; two grandsons; a great-grandson; two God-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Hale of North Carolina. She also was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Covington was a member of Hope's Point Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Edwin Mohr officiating.
