Obituary

Steven E. Howell, 84, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his residence.

He was born October 30, 1941, in Indianapolis, the son of Howard E. Howell, Sr., and Eunice (Horsley) Howell.

Steven worked as a welder at Arvin’s in Franklin for many years. He was a faithful member of Living Waters Apostolic Church in Shelbyville, where he enjoyed attending services and being active with his church family.

Steven had a love for horseback riding and traveling, especially exploring the western United States. He was often seen dressed in his western attire and had a genuine passion for all things western. Among his favorites were the classic western movies and the legendary actors John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. His love of the western lifestyle was a special part of who he was and brought him great joy throughout his life.

Steven is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Bender (companion, Cynthia Buddenbaum), Dianna Davis, and Debbie Edwards; nephew, David (wife, Debbie) Howell, nieces, Denise (husband, Steve) Jordan, and Tina (husband, Scott) Wampler, nephews, Doug Bender, Daren Bender, Woodrow ‘Scott’ (wife, Jamie) Muse, Kevin (wife, Anna) Muse, Justin (wife, Tina) Edwards, and Ryan Edwards; and his beloved dog, Lady and cat, Princess.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie (Bray) Howell, parents, brother, Howard E. Howell, Jr., and his sister, Gloria Edwards.

A private graveside service was held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Living Waters Apostolic Church, 1110 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN. with Reverend Josh Kinner officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church at 11am.
