Sherrie Lynn Pate

Sherrie Lynn Pate, 66, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born in Shelby Co. on March 15, 1959, to James and Betty (Bassett) Taggart.

Sherrie was a follower of her Native American ancestors.  She loved animals of all creation.  She had one of the biggest hearts and would help any human or animal she could.  Spending time with family joking around and have fun was one of her many favorite activities.  Sherrie was also very artistic and enjoyed crafts very much.  She was honest to a fault, but always out of love.  She will be missed by so many.

She married John A. Pate and he survives.  They spent 15 loving years of marriage together.

She is also survived by her children, David Thompson, Betty Jo Thompson, Amy (husband, John) Hamner and Jeremy Prine; her step-children, Amanda (husband, Dante) Pate-Grey, Andrew Pate and Britni (husband, Cody) Harden; bonus child, Shawna (husband, JJ) Beers; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Betty Ann (husband, Larry) Shook, Jennie (husband, Mark) Daugherty, Tim (wife, Julie) Taggart, Mike (wife, Terry) Taggart, Kristi Taggart, Andrew (wife, Misty) Taggart and Elizabeth (husband, Russ) Dodrill; her pets, Ziva, Houdini, Angel and Simba.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her bonus child, Angie Knight; her siblings, James Taggart, Bonnie Sipes and Tina (husband, Mike) Best.

A Celebration of Life will be announced  at a later date.
