Ruth Mathews

Ruth Mathews, 63, of Fairland, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at her residence.

She was born July 5, 1957 in Shelbyville to Harold Oakley, Sr. and Betty (Oltman) Oakley.

Ruth attended Shelbyville High School.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, her dogs and her birds.  Her most precious times were spent with her family.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Amy Smith (Michael Holland) of Fairland, and Kimberly Abshear (Virgil) of North Vernon; her grandchildren, Amylia Smith; Zachary Martin (Haley Rexroat); Dominic Stevens (Elizabeth Valdez); Tia Mathews, Brookelynn Abshear, Jaiden Abshear, Nicholas Abshear, Kyler Abshear, and Jaylen Abshear; 8 great-grandchildren; her brother. Butch Oakley (Carolyn); her sister, Sue Winslow, and her nieces, Danielle Delauder and Krissy Winslow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Dekoda Stevens; great-grandson, Leighton Hayes, and niece, Amber Dawn Oakley-Jefferies.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Keck officiating.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Ruth's family.
