Rusty Lee Johnson, 60, of Flat Rock, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his residence.

He was born December 2, 1965, in Shelbyville, IN to H.B. Johnson and Lois Ann (Hill) Johnson.

He attended Southwestern High School.

Rusty had a gift for working with his hands. He learned the trade alongside his father, through their family business, Pete Johnson and Sons Masonry. He took pride in his craft and in the time he spent working alongside his dad.

Outside of work, Rusty was also a pool shark extraordinaire and knew exactly what he was doing when he picked up a pool cue. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, fishing as well as turkey and deer hunting. He truly treasured the simple things that gave him the chance to enjoy life on his own terms. When Rusty was not playing pool or enjoying the outdoors, he loved to be in his chair watching a good ole Western.

Rusty was the kind of friend people were lucky to have. There was no truer friend and no fiercer protector. He loved deeply, even if he didn’t always say it in the most traditional way. He wasn’t the kind of person to get out of the house much, but the friends he loved meant the world to him.

He is survived by his son, Collin Bellows; sister, Jonnie Willey; brother, Terry Johnson; girlfriend, Rita Neal; stepdaughter, Jennifer Bellows; former spouse, Christine Lovitt; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepsons, Jeremy and Johnathan Bellows.

A Private Graveside Service was held in Winchester Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
