Russell L. Meyerholtz

May 22, 1921 — June 30, 2011

Russell L. Meyerholtz, 90, of Shelbyville died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born May 22, 1921, in Stendal, he was the son of Clarence and Pearl (Beadles) Meyerholtz. He married Evelyn Heim on Nov. 4, 1945, and she survives. Other survivors include sons, Randall (Ski) Meyerholtz of Exton, Pa., and Rodney (Melissa) Meyerholtz of Shelbyville; daughter Robin Pushor of Lebanon; sister, Ruth Rummel of Huntingburg; grandchildren, Julie (Chris) Fegan, Joni (Matt) Martin, Jeri Meyerholtz, Scott (Vira) Meyerholtz, Emily (Aaron) Altier and Erica Pushor; and great-grandchildren, Madison Scott, Maggie Scott, Jenna Fegan, Jillian Martin, Mason Altier, Carly Altier, Rocco Meyerholtz and Roman Meyerholtz. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby Proctor and Rosaline Dearing; and brothers, Roger Meyerholtz and Robert Meyerholtz. Mr. Meyerholtz graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1939 and in June of 1948 from the Indiana University School of Business, where he was a member of Delta Chi fraternity and a life member of the IU Alumni Association and the Emeritus Club. He also was a member of Elks Lodge No. 457. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a master sergeant with the 785th Ordnance Company of the 85th Infantry Division during World War II. Mr. Meyerholtz was employed in accounting at International Harvester Co. in Evansville from 1948 to 1955 and General Electric Co. and Wellman Thermal Systems Corp. in Shelbyville from 1955 until he retired in 2003. He was a member and past elder of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Russell was an avid golfer and sports fan of all IU sports, the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Cubs. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks, with Pastor Linda Frische-Mouri officiating. Burial will be Thursday in the Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg, with graveside military rites conducted, following visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions honoring Russell may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ, 2630 S. Miller St., Shelbyville IN 46176. An online guest book may be signed at www.murphyparks.com .
