Russell Arnold Bennett, 90, of Greenfield, a former Shelbyville resident, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. Born April 22, 1920, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Albert and Jane (Campbell) Bennett. He married Lucy Green, and she preceded him in death in 1991. Survivors include his sons, Steve (wife, Janie) Bennett of Greenfield and Tony (wife, Sandy) Bennett of Whiteland; daughters, Janet (husband, John) Dawson of Quincy, Ill., Phyllis (husband, Robert) Burlson of Pataskala, Ohio, Linda (husband, Don) Whitted of Shelbyville, Shannon (husband, Damon) Blair of Edinburgh, and sister, Mary Gill, Franklin; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Judy Hash. Mr. Bennett had been employed with Amtrak, retiring in 1985. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County. Services have been entrusted to Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S.
