Roscoe J. Dixon, 68, of Shelbyville died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Waldron Health and Rehab Center in Waldron. He was born April 20, 1944, to Robert and Fern (Rufus) Dixon. He married Rosalie VanHoosier on Oct. 22, 1977, and she preceded him in death Dec. 14, 2006. Survivors include four daughters, Dawn Slasser of Shelbyville, Betty Britt of Waldron, and Cheryl Leake and Michelle Price, both of Kentucky; two sons, Sherman Hall and Phillip Strunk, both of Shelbyville; three sisters, Dolly Jacobs and Pauline Jacobs, both of Shelbyville, and Blanche Gibson of Indianapolis; two brothers, Tom Dixon of Bloomington and Edmond Dixon of New Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three sisters. Roscoe was self-employed in construction . He enjoyed camping, fishing and football. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
