Ronald Jay Cates, 68, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at his residence.
He was born September 12, 1953 in Connersville, IN to Eugene Elsrod and Fern (Saylor) Crissillies.
Ron graduated from Connersville High School in 1972.
He was a carpenter and enjoyed watching sports and was also an avid reader.
Ron is survived by his sister, Adora Anderson, brother, Donald Elsrod, sister, Daphne Norris (Leroy), nieces and nephews, Jorma Jackman, Katie Harris, Miriah Sutton, Derek Elsrod, Jessie Elsrod, Melaney McClintock (Joe), Adam Holstein (Rachel), and Jake Holstein, great-nieces and nephews, Jaylynn Haynes, Alena Jackman, Tharen Sutton, and Jude Elsrod
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jeff Elsrod.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Ron's family.
