He was born June 1, 1938, at home in Brown County, IN, the son of John Hubert Rund and Helen Elizabeth (Richards) Rund.

As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, I.U. football, plus Indiana and Butler basketball teams.
Family was the most important to Bob. He thoroughly enjoyed being together with his large family and watching his grandkids and great grandkids perform in their many activities through the years. Bob loved gardening, hunting, and fishing, especially the many fishing trips to northern Minnesota with family. He also loved the time spent at his property in Brown County.
He married Carol Lee (Wells) Rund on March 31, 1959, and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2003. He then married Carol Ann (Scheffler) Wells on December 30, 2006, and she survives.
