Robert Louis Martin, 61, of Shelbyville, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Major Hospital. Robert was born Aug. 19, 1952, to Robert and Louise Hatmaker Martin in Shelbyville. Survivors include a sister, Lisa (Gary) Kraner of Moorpark, Calif.; a nephew, Joshua Kraner of Moorpark; stepmother, Sara Martin of Shelbyville; stepbrothers, Robert McNew, Michael McNew, and Christopher McNew,; and stepsisters, Natalie Baugher and Kae Ann Friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepsister, Denese Gibson. Robert worked for Securitas for several years as a security guard. He was a true avid sports fan. He served as a member of The Strand Board. He had a true passion of giving his time and talents to the development of The Strand. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Prather officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Strand, 205 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176
