Robert Louis Martin, 61, of Shelbyville, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Major Hospital. Robert was born Aug. 19, 1952, to Robert and Louise Hatmaker Martin in Shelbyville. Survivors include a sister, Lisa (Gary) Kraner of Moorpark, Calif.; a nephew, Joshua Kraner of Moorpark; stepmother, Sara Martin of Shelbyville; stepbrothers, Robert McNew, Michael McNew, and Christopher McNew,; and stepsisters, Natalie Baugher and Kae Ann Friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepsister, Denese Gibson. Robert worked for Securitas for several years as a security guard. He was a true avid sports fan. He served as a member of The Strand Board. He had a true passion of giving his time and talents to the development of The Strand. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Prather officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
