Robert Lewis Lee, 64, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his residence. He was born Feb. 9, 1948, to Lewis Martin Lee and Pansy (Cherry) Lee in Shelbyville. Survivors include two sons, Robert M. Lee and Alex Davenport, both of Shelbyville; two daughters, Lisa Manning of Greensburg and Charlotta Davenport of Shelbyville; four grandchildren; sister, Sarah (husband, Archie) Coffey of Shelbyville, brother, Michael Lee of Indianapolis, and sisters, Betty Bassett and Kathy Cassidy, both of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Larry Lee, Gary Lee, Mark Lee; and a sister, Lucrecia Ray. Mr. Lee had been employed with Geiger & Peters Inc. of Indianapolis. He was a member of the American Legion Post 70 and Moose Lodge in Shelbyville. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends. He was often referred to as "The General." Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens, Heroes of Honor and Glory Garden for veterans, 625 Progress Parkway, Shelbyville, with Robert Prather officiating. Military rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert L. Lee Memorial Fund in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176. Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Lee.
