Robert L. Hill

Robert L. Hill, 81, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Rushville to Clifford and Mabel (Dearinger) Hill. He married Violet (Williams) Hill on April 7, 1956, and she survives in Shelbyville. Other survivors include daughters, Teresa (husband, Mark) Smith of Waldron and Diane (husband, Todd) Jenkins of Shelbyville; sister, Helen Snyder of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Brian Smith, Ben Smith, Andy Smith, Randy Smith, James Jenkins and Dylan Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Margaret Hill; and sister, Kathleen Burt. Mr. Hill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He worked for the Conrail Railroad for 42 years before retiring in 1994. Mr. Hill was a member of the Shelby County sportsmen's club and the National Horseshoe Association. His favorite pastime was going to his favorite fishing places. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the funeral home with the Revs. Mark Joplin and George Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
