Robert A. Cooper, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his residence.
He was born October 15, 1935, in Ross County, KY to Hommie L. Cooper and Nana M. (Burnett) Cooper.
Bob graduated from Huntington High School in Ohio with the Class of 1954. He joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time fishing and out riding his motorcycle. His true joy came from spending time with his family. He owned and operated Keystone Printing in Indianapolis with his wife for many years. Bob then worked at Kroger for over 23 years, becoming familiar with many different aspects of that job. He was a member of the American Legion Post 70, where he severed as the finance officer. That was another job that he was dedicated to and took great pride in quality work.
He married Nancy C. (Collier) Cooper on November 22, 1978, and she survives. They shared 47 loving years of marriage together.
He was also survived by his daughter, Sandra (husband, Buddy) Webb; son, Robert D. “Rocky” (wife, Jennifer) Cooper; daughter, Amy (husband, Jason) Russo and Janie (husband, Kenny) McPherson; son, Steve (wife, Jennifer) Moore; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild; sister, Mona Hittchel and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. to Noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will follow at Noon at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Bartlett officiating.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens and Crematory with military rites will be conducted by our local veteran organizations.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Bob’s family.
Memorial contributions may be given in honor of Bob to the American Legion Post 70, 1125 Miller Ave. Shelbyville, IN 46176.
