Rita Alexander

Rita Alexander, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born to Dennis and Exie Elmore Milby in Taylor County Kentucky. She married Wayne Alexander on April 21, 1973 and spent 48 years together as husband and wife.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Monica Cox and her husband, Mike of Muncie; a son, Michael Wayne Alexander and his wife, Rebecca of Franklin; two sisters, Geraldine Coffey and husband, Romer of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Wanda Galliher and husband, Frank of Paducah, Kentucky, one brother, Gordon Milby and wife, Wanda of Norristown; three grandchildren, Makayla Byrd, Zachary Sneed, Jonathan Sneed; three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Velma Kirtley, Virginia Gault, Rachel Milby, and one brother, Leroy Milby.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the funeral home with Mark Myers officiating.

Interment will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens.

The family requests masks be worn for visitation and service.
