Richelle “Rickie” Ketchum, 65, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at her residence.
She was born December 25, 1960 in Shelbyville, IN to Richard Harris and Carolyn (Kelly) Harris.
She married John “Wood” Ketchum on October 23, 1992 and he survives. They shared 33 loving years of marriage together.
Rickie graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1979. She enjoyed playing the guitar and being outdoors. She also enjoyed the times she spent fishing. Rickie loved to help her husband in the wood shop and was talented in the upholstering of the furniture. Most of all she just enjoyed life. Her positive attitude and big heart made her the best homemaker and she cherished all the times spent with her family.
She's very creative, an artist and craftswoman. She would draw cartoons for her children, as well as dream up and build furniture with John. She also had a particular fondness for native american crafts and culture.
She loved to going outside to garden, growing fresh tomatoes and beautiful flowers. She would also leave out seeds for the birds and sugar water for the hummingbirds and bees.
Rickie loved all animals and always had an intuition for how they were feeling, providing her gentle hands and voice. Many pets throughout the years stuck to her like glue. They enjoyed bonding with and sharing their lives with her.
She was selfless, always putting others needs first above her own. She was always available whenever her children needed her love and guidance.
She was a clever thinker, a problem solver and miracle worker. Given enough time, she could do anything she put her mind to
She was also survived by her sons, Lucas Ketchum (Kendra Jacobs) and Logan (wife, Skylar) Ketchum; daughter, Leslie (spouse, Finn) Ketchum; step-daughter, Karen (husband, Scott) Carpenter; step-sons, Jason (wife, Krista) Ketchum, Jered Ketchum, Jeff (wife, Rhonda) Ketchum and Johnny Ketchum; grandchildren, Violet, Raven, Matthew, Eden, Issac, Leon, Leonida, Michael, Jordan, Chelsea, Blake, Jalen, Brynden, Natalie, Libby and Theo; brothers, Roger (spouse, Peter) Harris, Randy Harris and Richard (wife, Tonya) Harris and sister, Tam Rosenburg (Mike Harden).
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert “Bob” Harris and her stillborn sister, Carrie Harris.
Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Rickie’s family.
