Obituary

It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Reginald H. Honaker, of Patriot, IN.

Reggie rode into eternal peace at the age of 73, on October 5, 2026.

Reggie lived life wide open, fueled by a passion for the open road & the roar of a powerful engine. Reggie was a man who lived life in the fast lane with the wind in his face. His happiest moments were spent gripping the handlebars of his beloved Harley Davidson he had over the years. On two wheels, he found his peace and his greatest community of brotherhood under an open sky. For Reggie, riding wasn’t just a hobby, it was a way of life that represented freedom, brotherhood, and the thrill of the journey. A good day for Reggie was chrome shining in the sun & a long stretch of highway ahead of him.

When he wasn’t on two wheels, you could find him cruising down the road in his jacked up 4x4 Chevy or his Corvette. You couldn’t miss the “shine” coming down the road!

Born on June 20, 1953, in El Paso, TX, Reggie was the son of the late Joan (Robert) Wettering and Ervin H. Honaker.

Reggie enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1977 & retired in 1991. During his military service, he earned several medals & commendations, showcasing his dedication and commitment to his country.

He was in the 82nd Airborne Division & Special Forces.

When Reggie retired from the military, he said he wasn’t cutting his hair or shaving for one year, and he didn’t!

He worked construction for years and eventually started his own company. He and his wife, Dee Dee, opened a restaurant in Patriot, IN called Patriot Pizza Parlor. The food was loved by everyone. Eventually, they outgrew that space and moved to Rising Sun, IN and opened ReDegio’s restaurant. Best pizza, breadsticks, hoagies, etc around. Many years after it closed, family were still hearing from people about how much they loved the food.

Reggie will be missed by his special friend, Norma Henry and their dogs, Baby & Max; sons, Jeremy (Shannon) Honaker and Joshua (Dr. Jocelyn "Jojo") Honaker; children’s mother, Debi Yount; sisters, Rosanna Hightower, Gwen Honaker, Janice (Ron) Pruss, Nicole (Jeff) Dickman, Angela Honaker and Jennifer Johnson; grandchildren, Easton (Diane) Stombaugh, Jalahn Honaker, Bella and Lily Honaker, Nikki Bartlett, Robert and Heather Honaker: great-grandchildren, Lucas and Layla Stombaugh, Maxton Mobley, Liam Sargent, Myles Sargent, Amira Sargent and Zoie Bebout; many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Therefore, a Celebration of Life will be in the Spring and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Disabled American Veterans at https://www.dav.org

Reggie has taken his final ride into the sunset, leaving behind a trail of unforgettable memories. Shift into high gear in heaven, brother.

“RIDE FREE, BROTHER. YOU WILL BE MISSED, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN”
