Ray Junior 'JR' Cecil, 84, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Heritage House, Shelbyville.
He was born February 16, 1934, in Wayne Co, IN., to Elsworth G. and Cordellia (Helton) Cecil.
JR married Jeanne (Hayes) Cecil on July 19, 1980, and she survives.
He is also survived by his son, Leroy H. (Beverly) Hittle, daughter, Mary (Kevin) LaRussa, step-children, Vicki (Gary, Sr.) Oldham; Allen (Lisa) Lay; Dara (Gregg) Hebbe; Lea Anne (Yancy) Chipman; and Bryan (Julie) Lay; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, and 3 sisters.
JR was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Marilyn Murnan, 2 brothers, and 6 sisters.
He was a member of Crossroad Community Church.
He worked in maintenance at Fort Benjamin Harrison and the Railroad. He also worked for Baxter Constructions building pole barns.
JR loved camping, fishing, square dancing, attending standardbred horse races, and spending time on the lake. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed mowing lawns.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, Friday, January 18, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Andy Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery, Waldron, IN.
Funeral Directors, Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Cecil family.
