Opal L Flannery

Opal Louise Flannery, 58, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. She was born March 19, 1954, in Shelbyville to Addis F. and Hattie M. (Johnson) Burchett. She married Matthew E. Flannery on July 5, 2000, and he survives. Other survivors include daughter, Regina Smith of Shelbyville; sons, William Aulby and Jeremiah Aulby, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Maria Melody, Dillon Wayne, Brooklynn Nichole, Brittany Ann Nichole and Benjamin Cody; and sisters, Gladys Carmer of Greensburg and Martha Davidson of Shelbyville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers. Opal was a very compassionate mother and grandmother. She always showed her true love for her sisters. She was a member of Vine Street United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Eagles Auxiliary, where she served as vice president and president. She also was a former member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion auxiliaries. She had been employed as a restaurant manager at Burger King. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and arts and crafts. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens. Funeral directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Ms. Flannery.
