Norma "Jean" Toon

Norma Jean Toon, 85, of Shelbyville died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Major Hospital. Born Jan. 17, 1925, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Ortie and Eva (Benefiel) Moore. She married Robert E. Toon on May 18, 1957, and he survives. Other survivors include her sons, Steven (wife, Carol) Bullard and Danny (wife, Brenda) Toon, both of Shelbyville, James (wife, Kathy) Bullard of Bellevue, Neb., and Bobby Toon (friend, Sandy Quillen) of Fountaintown; daughter, Sandra White of Shelbyville; brother, Richard Moore of Shelbyville; sister, Virginia Gaffney of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Gerstner; two brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Toon had been employed at General Electric Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. Mrs. Toon enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
