Nancy Lynn Cook, 64, of North Vernon died Friday, June 6, 2008, at her home. Born March 22, 1944, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Carl and Nina (Brown) Cowin. Survivors include her daughters, April (husband, Eddie) Thomas Sr. and Alisa Cook, both of Key Largo, Fla.; son, Karl Cook of Louisiana; brothers, Jerry Cowin of Fairland, Henry Borders of Gas City and James Cowin of Seymour; sisters, Lois Haus of Shelbyville, Beverly Anderson and Janet Issac, both of North Vernon; sisters-in-law, Donna Cowin and Debbie Borders; grandchildren, Eddie Thomas Jr. and Latonya Thomas; and companion, Jacob VerMeulen. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Zeta Brauer, June Davis and Marjorie Watkins. Ms. Cook was a homemaker. She enjoyed bingo and crossword puzzles. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. A celebration of life service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Smith officiating.
