Obituary

Morris Pickett, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026, at his residence.

He was born April 29, 1946, in Columbia, KY to Dalton Morris Pickett and Leigh (Rickett) Pickett.

Morris served in the United States Army and retired from Indiana National Guards. He was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church. He worked for GE Wellmans for 34 years before their closing and went onto Brazeway for 6 years before retiring in 2010 and then onto Rural King part time after retirement.

Morris enjoyed camping, fishing and flying model airplanes.

He married Marilyn (Fortner) Pickett on May 14, 1982, and she survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Renee) Pickett; step-son, Jim (wife, Reggie) Wilkins; step-daughter, Amy (husband, Randy) Morning; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Richardson; brother-in-laws, Don Richardson and Michael Fortner.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, 7414 E. Michigan Rd., Waldron, IN 46182, with Pastor George Mitchell and Pastor Matt Mitchell officiating. Military rites will be conducted by our local veteran organizations.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Morris’s family.

Memorial contributions may be given in honor of Morris to the Shelby County Cancer Association, 31 Public Square, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
