Mitza "Mitzie" Hicks, 69, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, at her residence.

She was born January 15, 1951, to Chauncey and Sylvia (McFoy) Moore in Hepzibah, West Virginia.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hicks.  They were married on February 14, 1996 and enjoyed 24 wonderful years together.

She is also survived by her daughter, Barbara (Shawn) Hare of Claremore, OK, her two sons: Scott Tichenor of Greenwood, Larry (Christy) Fonseth of Illinois, her step-son, Cary (Glenda) Hicks of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her brother John (Becky) Moore of Acton; and her twin sister, Millie Massey of Wanamaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty Lowe, and her niece, Michelle Massey.

Mitzie was a member of the Moose Lodge.

She loved to dance and play scratch off tickets. She enjoyed taking trips and vacations, especially visiting the beach and going fishing.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the funeral home with the Reverend Tony Garris officiating.

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens and Crematory.
