Michael A. Hogan

Michael A. Hogan Sr., 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born February 25, 1947 in Beech Grove, IN. to Vechil Hogan and Ruth (Yates) Hogan.

Mike graduated from Switz City High School. He worked many years for and retired as a truck driver for Roadway.  Mike was a member of the Eagles #766, Sons of American Legion, and Teamsters Local 135.  He loved being on the golf course and happily organized out-of-state golf outings with friends and family.  He was excellent with numbers and incredible with statistics relating to sports of any kind.  One of his all time favorite things was watching his children and grandchildren play sports.  Mike, also, enjoyed playing cards and watching old westerns. He spent over thirty years with his wife and companion Gina.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Michelle Hogan of North Carolina; son, Michael Hogan Jr. (wife, Dawn); daughter, Kara Ernstes; son, James Hogan (wife, Amanda); daughter, Lisa Kiefer (husband, Brad); son, Adam Applegate (wife, Trisha); grandchildren, Kristen, Matthew, Wesley, Kylee, Hunter, Maci, Evelyn, Emily; 7 great-grandchildren; notable family member, Brittany; and sister, Christina Bova. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Stapleton; brother, Jonathan Hogan; and grandson, Kurtly Ernstes.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.  Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.  Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens & Crematory.  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve Mike's family.
