Melvin Sanders, Jr

Melvin "Junior" Sanders Jr., 68, of Shelbyville died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Wildwood Health Care Center in Indianapolis. Born Feb. 1, 1940, in New Castle, Ky., he was the son of Melvin Sr. and Kathrine (Jackson) Sanders. He married Mary McCoy, and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Ronald E. (fiancee, Edie Hughes) Diamond of Shelbyville; sisters, Lois Cole of Indianapolis, Nelly Diamond and Diane Sanders, both of Muncie; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Sanders of Shelbyville, Lenzie Sanders of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Joseph Sanders of Daleville; and grandchildren, Mariah Diamond and Jaida Diamond, both of Shelbyville. Mr. Sanders was formerly employed at Pettit Auto Parts. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Irvin French officiating.
