Melissa M. Skaggs

Melissa M. Skaggs, 50, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at I.U. Methodist Hospital.

She was born May 1, 1975, in Danville, IN to Michael Carter and Sharon (Baker) Carter.

After graduating from high school, Melissa earned a degree in Computer Science and became an active online personality.  She was a homemaker and her greatest joy came from caring for others and spending time with her family.  She was always willing to help others in need.  Melissa had a love for nature, being outdoors and cooking.  She was also an avid animal lover.  She enjoyed making people laugh, even if the timing or setting wasn't the most appropriate.

She is survived by her mother; her sons, Freddy (wife, Sheena) Skaggs and Andrew (wife, Jo-xira) Carter; her grandmother, Pat Baker; her fiancé, Aaron Charles; her granddaughter, Athena Skaggs; her sister, Michelle Hensley; her brother-in-law, Joe (wife, Amber) Skaggs; her sister-in-laws, Stephanie (husband, Andy) Skaggs, Debbie Skaggs and Dana Hendricks; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; her brother, Kevin Carter and step-father, John Wright.
