Melissa Dawn Curry, 47, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at I.U. Methodist Hospital.

She was born August 8, 1973 in Shelbyville to George Caine and Cheryl (Phillips) Hasecuster.

Melissa is survived by her son, Cody (Kennedy) Curry of Muncie; her mother, Cheryl, of Oklahoma City; her sisters, Kimberly Stover, of Oklahoma City; and Teresa (John 'JR') Retzlaff, of Lakeland, Fl; her step-brother, Doug (Amanda) Hasecuster; her step-sister, Elizabeth (Frank) Lasota; her half-sisters, Nicole DeBaun and Shana Caine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her fathers, George Caine and Jim Hasecuster; her grandparents, Paul and Martha Phillips; her sister, Brenda Benfield; her step-brother, Shane McDonald and her grandparents, Turner and Nettie Caine.

Melissa graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1992.  She loved wearing her flip-flops and walking along the beach.  Her most precious times were spent with her family and friends.

Private family services will be held.  A public gathering to celebrate Melissa's life will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the American Legion Hall, 1125 Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, IN.
