Maurice E. Secrest

Maurice E. "Gene" Secrest, 86, of Shelbyville died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Waldron Health and Rehab Center in Waldron. Born Nov. 11, 1921, in Hall, he was the son of Oran Henry and Lola Mae (Quillen) Secrest. He married Mary Truitt on Jan. 13, 1954, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, LeAnne Secrest of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Secrest had been a divisional manager of Capital Finance. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Secrest was a member of Masonic Lodge St. John No. 20 F&AM in Columbus. He completed the Scottish Rite and Shrine bodies in Connersville and the York Rite in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. A Masonic service will be at 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service, with the Rev. Steven Holland officiating.
