Mary Louise (Kappes) Brown

Mary Louise Brown, 71, of Shelbyville died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at her residence. Born Feb. 14, 1940, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Bernard F. and Fern Ida (Snyder) Kappes. She married Charles W. Brown on Jan. 5, 1963, and he survives. Other survivors include daughters, Alletta Thurston of Shelbyville and Dena (husband, Darrell) Caldwell of Fountaintown; sons, William (wife, Connie) Dwenger, Bernard (wife, Deloris) Brown and Christopher Brown, all of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (wife, Barbara) Kappes of Waldron. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Brown had been employed at Major Hospital as a nurses' aide until her retirement. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating. Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mary Louise Brown Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
