Obituary

Marlene Joyce (Thomas) Meyers Marlene was born September 23, 1936 in Ripley County. She went to her eternal reward on April 22, 2026.

She was the daughter of Lorin and Christina (Johnson) Thomas.

On June 19, 1959 she married Glenn Alan Meyers. He proceeded her in death in 1996.

She is survived by two daughters and one son. Susan (husband Randal) Young of Shelbyville, Beverly (husband Robert) Saunders of Pittsboro, and Stephen Meyers of Shelbyville. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Nathan (wife, Jenny) Young, Daniel Young (Karissa Jackson), Andrew (wife, Gabby) Saunders, Emily (husband, Jordan) Wright and Samantha (husband, Jake) Moreno Copeland. Seven great grandchildren, Grady, Wren, Wilder, Vera, Brooks, Rueben, and Isidro. She is also survived by one brother, Rev. Floyd (wife Peggy) Thomas of Shelbyville and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Rosemary Gahimer, Mildred Platt and Ruth Hall.

Mrs. Meyers worked for nine years at the Wesleyan Church Headquarters and then the Pilgrim Holiness Church. In 1975 her late husband, Glenn Meyers, started Shelby Printing where he served as president and she as secretary/treasurer. After the death of her husband, she served as president until she closed the shop in 2003. In her later years, she volunteered and then worked at the Cancer Association Thrift Shop. Mrs. Meyers was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church where she held different offices. She previously was a member of the Salvation Army Board. She was a past member and board member of the Zonta International and also a member of the Shelby County Cancer Board. Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Daniel Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
